History Asheville Children's Medical Center has been dedicated to providing children with the best care available since 1968, when Dr. Harold D. Schutte founded the practice in an office near Mission/St. Joseph's Hospital. Joined in time by Drs. Martha Claxton and William Bryan III, the practice flourished, outgrew its facilities, and moved first to S. French Broad Ave for more than twenty years and ultimately to its present location at Vanderbilt Park Dr. Our Mission Asheville Children’s Medical Center is a group of medical professionals committed to the very best healthcare for children. We serve our patients by using the highest level of medical services combined with a personal interest in each child.
